Meet Sarah
Growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Sarah had a curiosity for beauty at a young age. The glitz & glamour of makeup was so exciting and playful to her. Sarah had a love for art which included pastel painting, water colors, and oil painting. In her early teens, she began practicing makeup looks on herself as well as her girl friends. Makeup became her true creative outlet to express herself and to be a rebel. Upon graduating high school, Sarah had a plan to attend the Make Up Designory in Burbank, California. Determined to follow her dreams she said to her father, “I am going to be a makeup artist, I am going to turn my passion into a career.” She feels so blessed to have had her family’s full support and blessings to follow this career path.
At Makeup Designory, Sarah learned all aspects of Makeup from basic beauty to Special FX, tv/film, and high fashion. After completion of the Masters Course at MUD, she began gaining experience with short films, music videos, photo shoots, fashion shows, weddings, and TV series. Sarah also worked part time for multiple Cosmetic brands to educate herself on luxury products as well as gain experience with all different skin tones/types.
In the summer of 2014, Sarah attended Beauty College to become a licensed esthetician. Having this license opened many doors for her over the years which also taught her the knowledge and importance of taking care of your skin. This knowledge gave Sarah the ability to educate her clients on how to take care of their skin, as well as suggesting products best suited for them. While working as a Brow Artist for Hourglass Cosmetics, she had an exciting opportunity to travel to New York to train the beauty team on Brow Waxing, Lash Lifts, and Brow Lamination. Shortly after this trip is when Sarah realized exactly which direction she wanted her career to go. This is when she made the bold move to fully pursue her career as a Freelance Makeup Artist and start her own business as, The Modern Makeup Artist.
With over 14 years in the entertainment industry, Sarah has found her niche in the world of beauty. She currently specializes in Bridal, Print, Red Carpet, and has a private clientele in Santa Monica, Ca. She has a drive for collaborating with likeminded artists who share the same passion for beauty and creativity. Sarah is a skincare enthusiast who loves teaching others the latest beauty tips and trends. She thrives on connecting with others and brings a calming presence to the makeup chair. Sarah believes makeup is a tool we can use to enhance our best features, and to tap into our power of being the best version of ourselves.
